I was a competitive swimmer for over 12 years. I started with swim lessons, then I joined Newport Hills Swim and Tennis Club, later I went to the Issaquah Swim Team in the community and High School
My favorite swim memory was walking to the pool everyday after school with my friends to attend practice. And, all the swim meets with donuts after every meet :)
My favority stroke is the Backstroke!
I love teaching people about swimming, I have always wanted to be a swim coach, to both help someone develop more confidence and to show how fun it is And relaxing!
I want to others to know that swimming relaxing and fun! I hope to develop confidence and trust with you, teach you proper swim techniques, and help you enjoy the water. -
I have had the privilege of growing up in Washington, where I've enjoyed taking swim lessons, swimming electively, and participating in water sports including wake surfing, water skiing, and wake boarding. Aside from swimming, I have developed my ability to connect with children of all ages and backgrounds over many years. I have experience as a daycare teacher, babysitting and tutoring privately, and holding volunteer positions at my local Church and elsewhere.
My favorite memory is swimming in the chilly Puget Sound for hours, teaching my sisters somersaults and I like the breast stroke the best.
I love the opportunity to invest in the next generation! It is such a privilege to work with students who are eager to improve themselves. I love the gift of watching students see the results of their hard work, and it encourages me to continue raising the bar.
In my teaching approach, I begin by assessing currents strengths and weaknesses. Once I feel confident in my understanding, I'll lay out an age appropriate synopsis of my plan for the session. From here, I'll move into my process that aims to address insecurities, affirm strengths, and replace movements or behaviors that don't contribute to the goal. If the way I present information or correction is not registering with students, I pivot. Everybody's brains work differently, and just because something makes sense to me, does not mean it is clear to you. Once a student seems confident in a skill, I will regularly incorporate it into class to ensure that skills are maintained, as we will build off of it later! Through this interactive approach, my intent is to empower students. Not only do I want them to feel secure in their swimming capabilities, I want them to recognize and be proud of their ability to try new things, work hard, and learn effectively.

I was a competitive swimmer on Wave aquatics for 6 years and then discontinued club swimming to join my high school swimming team and later became my swim team’s captain. I began swim instructing in 2023 and have been instructing since. I normally work with children ages 4-12, however, i have worked with kids as young as 9 months to as old as 50 years old.
My favorite swim memory was going to championships in 4th grade and getting to swim at KCAC in their olympic sized pool. My favorite stroke is backstroke and that is also the stroke i am best at. I have been most successful in swimming 100 back.I love teaching at SwimQwik because of its supportive environment and focus on individualized instruction. The smaller pool sizes create a comfortable setting where swimmers can learn with fewer distractions and receive more personalized attention. This helps build confidence and refine technique more effectively. Being part of a team that prioritizes both safety and fun makes teaching here especially rewarding.
A great swim instructor prioritizes safety, confidence, and technique while creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment. My approach focuses on building strong foundational skills through personalized instruction tailored to each swimmer’s ability level. I emphasize proper breathing, body positioning, and stroke mechanics while ensuring lessons are engaging and enjoyable. Patience and positive reinforcement are key, helping swimmers overcome fears and develop a lifelong love for the water. Whether working with beginners or those looking to refine their technique, I create a structured yet adaptable lesson plan that fosters progress at a comfortable pace. My goal is to help every swimmer feel confident, safe, and capable in the water.

I have been a swim instructor for close to 18 years. I learned to swim by my older brother and sister who were also swim instructors in my hometown in Oregon. At the age of 15 I began teaching swimming lessons and taught a wide range from parent tot to adults all through high school and college. After college I began my career teaching middle and high school and am now a Dean of Students. However, my love of swimming lessons has remained and I enjoy teaching lessons in my free time.
My favorite swim memory was teaching my nieces and nephews to swim during summers the past few years. My teaching approach is to build trust and foster positive relationships that help students feel comfortable in the water. From that starting block I use challenge by choice and positive reinforcements to build confidence in the swimmer.

I have been a swim instructor for 10 years now. All I know is swimming! I learned to swim at a young age, following a near drowning incident, by attending weekly swim lessons at Kent-Meridian pool. At the age of 15, I joined the high school swim team and became a swim instructor in the same year. Using my instructors as inspiration, I incorporated some of their teaching techniques into my own classes.
I work with swimmers of all ages and have a rigorous teaching style. I find that it lays out clear expectations and accelerates learning. Each class is structured to create a strong foundation so that advanced techniques can be added on, as the skill is mastered. Students are rewarded at the end of each lesson if they stay focused, follow instructions, and try to their very best ability.
I specialize in infant and toddler survival swim classes. Survival classes teach students how to recover if they suddenly find themselves in a body of water. Students learn specific life-saving techniques to calm themselves in stressful situations until help arrives. Water is deceiving and dangerous which is why water safety is a vital life skill.
I enjoy teaching and love to watch my younger students progression from tears to no fears in and around water.
Fun facts about me:
- Graduated Kent-Meridian HS in 2017
- Enlisted in the Navy but was discharged after 5 months due to injury
- I have a bengal cat named Boo who likes to go on walks and play fetch
- I refinish old furniture to give it a new life
- I love cars and modify my 1992 Mazda Miata for drifting and racing

I've been swimming my whole life and competed for four years in high school, specializing in freestyle. During that time, I trained hard, pushed my limits, and competed at league championships. My favorite swim memory was after a swim meet me and my team showed up at our coaches house. My favorite stroke is freestyle. I love instructing at SwimQwik because it has an incredible atmosphere. The small class sizes allow me to give each swimmer personalized attention, helping them refine their technique and build confidence in the water. The supportive and encouraging environment fosters growth, making it the perfect place for swimmers of all levels to improve.
When teaching swimming, I focus on patience, technique, and confidence. I believe every swimmer progresses at their own pace, so I break down skills step by step, ensuring a strong foundation. I emphasize proper technique to build efficiency and prevent injury, while also creating a supportive environment that encourages swimmers to push their limits. Whether refining strokes or building endurance, my goal is to help others develop both skills.

I was a competitive swimmer throughout high school, along with being a lifeguard into college. While I did that, we were expected to teach swim lessons throughout the season. So in total, I have about 6 seasons of instructing swim lessons under my belt. Along with swim lessons, I also have extensive experience instructing children in other areas. Such as working as a gymnastics instructor, para-professional, nanny, and having an associates degree in elementary education
My favorite swim memory is when one of my private swimmers chose me as their ‘inspiration‘ for a school project. The Butterfly is my favorite swim stroke.
At SwimQwik, I love the intimacy that the facility brings, with how small the pools are, and the connection you get to have with each individual student.
In my teaching approach, I want my students to not only look at me as their instructor, but someone they have a bond with. I want the students to enjoy coming to each lesson, knowing the person teaching them, cares.

I've taken swim lessons sense I was 3 years old. I've competed on and off competitively on swim teams sense I was 7. Currently I am on my high school team. I've babysat for five years and tutored throughout high school. I hope to combine my experience with swim and childcare/instruction to be a good instructor.
Favorite Swim Memory: Either metros or late night high school swim practices
Favorite Stroke: Freestyle but I also love backstroke.
I am so excited to teach one on one and be able to give personalized feedback to each student. I think this helps each person improve and learn the best. I also like that long-lasting costumer relations are very important to the company!
I think it is best to meet each student individually at their level. With young kids I try to make it as fun as possible so that they can really fall in love with swimming. While I want to make it fun, safety is the most important thing, and I will make sure to reemphasize that to each child. I will work with each child to master the next skill they need, using diverse methods depending on the child's learning style. While some children follow directions after they are explained some respond better to demonstration or slowly walking them through each step. It's also important for me to understand each student's comfort level, some may be more tentative and take a little more encouragement. Others are a little too comfortable and need to be watched a little more closely to make sure they don't attempt anything they are not ready for yet.

I have swam competitively for 10 years on King Aquatic Club and SMAC. I have also been a substitute coach for King's Novice groups for 4 months, and also taught private lessons for several years.
Favorite Swim Memory: My favorite swim memory was when Tahoma High School Swim and Dive placed 3rd at state!
Favorite Stroke: Breastroke and Backstroke
I love teaching kids in an environment with fewer distractions like the pool at SwimQwik
I prefer to teach smaller groups of kids at a time in a more condensed environment, so I can focus on correcting and perfecting stroke techniques. I make it easier for kids to learn with me by developing a bond and fostering a strong relationship, so the lesson becomes more like learning with me, rather than being lectured.
